Two Dimensional Barcodes for Coupon / Ticket Redemption

RegiSoft’s integrated solutions for mobile tickets and mobile coupons are based on the World Trade Server^TM and Gavitec’s Data Matrix technology. The solution allows retailers, advertisers and ticketing agencies to send their customers vouchers with barcodes that can be redeemed at points of sales (POS) or venues.

Getting a ticket or coupon

Consumers can pull a coupon or order a ticket by sending an SMS with a specific code to a short number. In reply, the WTS^TM issues a message with a two dimensional barcode and sends it to the customer by EMS or Smart Message. Alternatively, in push campaigns, advertisers or brands send the coupon directly to the customer without prior pull request.

The two-dimensional barcode contains two types of information:

• Unique I.D. - defining the product or event the coupon or ticket can be used for
• Customer information - i.e. specification to which customer the coupon or ticket was issued

Redeeming the coupon or ticket

At POS, venues or dedicated kiosks, Gavitec EXIO code readers scan the two-dimensional barcode from any mobile phone screen. After processing it with a high-speed Digital Signal Processor (DSP), EXIO sends the coupon I.D. and the customer information to the WTS^TM.

Upon receipt, the WTS^TM executes the following validations and actions:

• Coupon or ticket limit validation: validation of authorized time for redemption, authorized user, payment completed, etc.
• Coupon or ticket redemption: coupon or ticket is redeemed for this specific user in the system. This information can now be used for data-mining purposes.

After successful completing the redemption process, the WTS^TM sends a message back to EXIO where a voucher with a standard one-dimensional barcode is printed out. This barcode contains the predefined coupon code or ticket code and can be redeemed at any regular cashier that is barcode-enabled.

Processing customer information

Integrating the WTS^TM with a complete redemption system, RegiSoft enables marketers and businesses to learn more about their customers. For every coupon, it is possible to track:

• Which customers redeemed coupon
• POS where each customer redeemed coupon
• Time of coupon redemption by each customer

Advanced data-mining tools analyze this data and establish individual preferences and rules on consumer behavior. Consequently, marketers are able to target their customers with personalized campaigns, at the time and the place where the customer is most receptive.
